Zelenskyy Holds Talks with Polish Foreign Minister

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday revealed he held talks with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to address recent concerns over suspected Russian drone incursions into Poland. The two leaders discussed Kyiv's readiness to assist in training Polish forces and constructing a joint defense infrastructure.

“We are grateful to Poland for its support from the very beginning of the war. We are close neighbors, and in times of such dangers it is vital to stand together,” Zelenskyy shared on Telegram. The conversation also touched on strengthening pressure on Russia, enhancing defense production, Ukraine's progress toward EU membership, and leveraging SAFE program funds for interceptor drone development.

Earlier, Zelenskyy also engaged in discussions with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen on defense assistance, joint arms production, and Denmark's involvement in the PURL initiative. Zelenskyy emphasized Denmark’s backing for Ukraine’s EU accession and underscored the necessity for a unified response to Russian drone strikes against Poland.

“The best response to aggression must be the joint strengthening of air defense and the creation of a reliable air shield over Europe,” Zelenskyy stated. He urged the EU to swiftly adopt its 19th package of sanctions against Russia, stressing that coordinated action was critical to halting Moscow's war efforts.

Zelenskyy Praises Sanctions from Japan, UK, and New Zealand
In a separate post on Telegram, Zelenskyy also expressed appreciation for new sanctions imposed by Japan, the UK, and New Zealand targeting Russia.

He highlighted Japan’s decision to lower the price cap on Russian oil to $47.60 per barrel, a move he noted would diminish the Kremlin's financial resources. Zelenskyy also welcomed the sanctions against Russian military-linked firms, including those producing Iskander missiles, operators of shadow fleets, and suppliers. Furthermore, individuals involved in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children were also sanctioned.

“Such steps are exactly what strengthen the joint pressure on the aggressor and bring us closer to the result we are all working for,” he added.

The Ukrainian president also expressed gratitude for the UK's new sanctions package, announced during Zelenskyy’s visit to Kyiv. The package includes 100 measures, targeting 70 tankers, 27 companies tied to Russia's military supply chains, and three individuals.

“It is very important that our proposals were taken into account during the preparation of the sanctions,” Zelenskyy noted, calling the move a “strong blow to Russia’s shadow fleet.”

Zelenskyy further acknowledged New Zealand’s contribution, which included reducing the oil price cap to $47.60 and imposing sanctions on 19 entities, 19 vessels, and Russia’s GRU Unit 29155, which is believed to have been involved in cyberattacks. He termed the sanctions package New Zealand's 32nd against Russia and hailed it as “a strong signal of support for Ukraine.”
