TRNC Provides Foot-and-Mouth Disease Vaccines to Greek Cypriots

(MENAFN) The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has provided 10,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine to the Greek Cypriot Administration after cases of the disease were detected in the region.

As stated by reports, the TRNC Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources said the shipment is part of a planned delivery of 20,000 doses coordinated by the Veterinary Department. The first batch of 10,000 doses was delivered on Friday, with the remaining doses expected in the coming days.

The ministry noted that the delivery supports ongoing efforts to curb the spread of FMD and that technical cooperation continues to safeguard animal health and prevent further transmission.

FMD has been reported at several dairies and livestock farms in Larnaca, prompting authorities to set up a coordination center and begin culling affected animals. The rapid spread of the disease has also led the Greek Cypriot Administration to impose a 21-day quarantine across the territory.
