Nepal PM Calls on Citizens to Vote in March 5 Parliamentary Elections
In a national address delivered ahead of the polls, Karki stressed that broad public participation is essential for guiding Nepal toward lasting political stability and economic growth.
"Casting your vote is not merely stamping an election symbol and securing victory for someone, but it is a decision about the future for yourself and your children," she said.
The upcoming elections come after the dissolution of the House of Representatives — the lower chamber of parliament — in the wake of unrest that gripped the country last September.
Karki also called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to respect the election silence period beginning Tuesday. She urged strict discipline during this time and cautioned against the circulation of misinformation and disinformation on social media platforms.
Voters will choose 275 members to serve in the House of Representatives during the nationwide polls.
