Pakistan Urges US, Iran to Maintain Truce as Talks Conclude in Islamabad

(MENAFN) According to reports, Pakistan’s top diplomat Ishaq Dar has called on both the United States and Iran to continue honoring their commitment to a ceasefire after high-level negotiations in Islamabad concluded without a final agreement.

Speaking at a brief press conference, Dar said the talks between the two sides had formally ended, while expressing hope that dialogue would continue in a “positive spirit” aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability across the region.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining the existing ceasefire arrangement, urging both parties to uphold what he described as their commitments while broader diplomatic efforts continue.

According to reports, Dar also thanked both delegations for acknowledging Pakistan’s role in facilitating discussions, describing Islamabad’s involvement as part of ongoing mediation efforts intended to support engagement between the two sides.

He further stated that Pakistan would continue to assist in promoting dialogue between Iran and the United States in the future, working to keep communication channels open.

Dar reportedly said that he, alongside senior military leadership including the Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, helped oversee several rounds of intensive negotiations that took place over the past 24 hours before concluding in the morning.

His remarks came shortly after US Vice President JD Vance departed Pakistan, following statements that the talks had ended without reaching an agreement.
