Iran Vows Response After US Strikes in Southern Regions

(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned early Wednesday that any aggression or threat directed at Iran would be met with a response following reported US strikes in the country’s south.

“Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the US opted to test our determination,” Araghchi said in a post on the US social media platform X.

“Our powerful armed forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered,” he added, while warning the United States to “leave our region if you want to be safe.”

“History of the Persian Gulf has many chapters on dire fates of intruding outsiders,” he said.

Earlier reports indicated that explosions and projectile impacts were recorded on Qeshm Island as well as in Sirik, Minab and Jask in southern Hormozgan Province. Air defense systems were also activated in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Sirik, according to reports.

Iranian state media later reported that the wave of attacks had eased and that conditions in the affected areas had become “nearly calm.”
