Israeli Forces Demolish East Jerusalem Building Raid West Bank Homes

(MENAFN) Israeli forces demolished a five-story residential building in occupied East Jerusalem on Tuesday while carrying out raids and searches in several areas of the occupied West Bank, according to local authorities and reports.

The demolished building, located in the Al-Tur neighborhood, contained 10 apartments. The Jerusalem Governorate said residents had received a final demolition notice on Monday, one day before the structure was brought down.

“Israeli authorities had pursued the residents for years with demolition orders and fines while refusing to issue them building permits,” the governorate said in a statement.

The Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli authorities conducted 139 demolition and land-leveling operations across East Jerusalem between July and September. During the same period, 150 demolition, eviction and property-seizure notices or orders were reportedly issued.

The UN humanitarian office has documented approximately 170 Palestinian structures demolished in occupied East Jerusalem since the start of 2026. Most of the demolitions were carried out on the stated grounds that the properties lacked Israeli-issued building permits, which the UN says are extremely difficult for Palestinians to obtain.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces conducted a military raid in Bani Naim, east of Hebron in the southern West Bank. Troops searched several homes and declared the area a “closed military zone.”

During the operation, three residential houses were reportedly converted into military positions. Israeli forces also prevented students from reaching some schools, according to reports.

In Tell village, southwest of Nablus, Israeli forces and settlers returned to a Palestinian home that had previously been used as a military post. A Palestinian family was reportedly forced to leave the property shortly after being permitted to return.

Elsewhere, settlers reportedly set fire to four vehicles in Aqraba, south of Nablus, and sprayed slogans calling for revenge. In another incident, a group attempted to ignite a fire at a poultry facility on a farm in Farkha, west of Salfit.

The same group reportedly sprayed slogans on a livestock farm before local residents confronted them and prevented further damage.

According to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli settlers have carried out more than 14,742 attacks across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since October 2023. The commission said those attacks have resulted in the deaths of 66 Palestinians.

The demolition in East Jerusalem and the latest military raids and settler attacks come amid continued tensions across the occupied Palestinian territories, with Palestinian communities facing ongoing property demolitions, military operations and settlement-related activity.
